Construction Laborer/Pipe Layer

Position Summary

The Construction Laborer / Pipe Layer assists with the installation of municipal water, sewer, and storm utility systems while performing excavation, pipe laying, and general labor duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Functions

  • Install, align, and connect underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer piping systems.

  • Assist with trench excavation, shoring, bedding, and backfilling operations.

  • Lay pipe to proper line and grade using lasers, levels, and grade rods.

  • Install valves, hydrants, manholes, catch basins, and other utility structures.

  • Prepare pipe and fittings for installation, including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.

  • Assist equipment operators during excavation, pipe placement, and utility installation.

  • Perform site cleanup and maintain a safe and organized work area.

  • Conduct work in compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and municipal utility standards.

  • Work effectively with crew members to complete utility projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier objects with assistance.

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces and trenches.

  • Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.

  • Frequently use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

  • Maintain balance and coordination while working on uneven ground, slopes, and around excavations.

  • Ability to enter and exit trenches, excavations, and construction equipment safely.

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively in a construction work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

  • Reliable transportation to and from designated job sites.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy

Work Environment

  • Reports To: Assigned Foreman

  • Work Location: Various job sites throughout the service area; work is performed primarily outdoors.

  • Schedule: Hours may vary based on project demands, workload, and weather conditions.

End Dump/Lowboy Driver

Position Summary

The End Dump / Lowboy Driver is responsible for safely transporting construction materials and heavy equipment to and from job sites.

Functions

  • Safely operate end dump to transport construction materials, including dirt, rock, sand, and gravel, to and from construction sites.

  • Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting vehicle conditions and reporting maintenance needs promptly.

  • Maintain accurate work orders, haul tickets, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, and project personnel to ensure timely deliveries and efficient operations.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles and equipment.

  • Climb in and out of truck cabs, trailers, and equipment multiple times throughout the workday.

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials, chains, binders, tarps, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance when necessary.

  • Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and walk on uneven terrain, gravel surfaces, and active construction sites.

  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, legs, and feet for steering, gear shifting, braking, clutch operation, and equipment controls throughout the workday.

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively in a construction work environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no manual transmission restrictions and have an  acceptable driving record.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement requirements, and safe operating procedures.

  • Ability to perform vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks, and complete required paperwork accurately.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy

  • Reports To: Assigned Superintendent

  • Work Location: Various job sites throughout the service area; work is performed primarily outdoors.

  • Schedule: Hours vary based on project demands, workload, and weather conditions.
